UETDRMP015 – Perform elevated work platform controlled descent escape (EDD)

Rescue Operations

Learn how to perform a safe self-rescue from an elevated work platform and how to rescue an incapacitated operator using EWP retrieval systems. This course covers both escape and rescue skills for ESI workers operating at height.

Course Overview

This course gives you the skills to respond safely when something goes wrong on an elevated work platform. You will learn how to conduct a self-rescue using controlled descent equipment, complete pre-use checks, follow safe descent procedures, and apply workplace protocols aligned to ESI requirements.

This course now includes UETDRMP016 as an additional unit. That unit focuses on rescuing an incapacitated operator from a raised EWP, including how to inspect and use EWP retrieval systems, assess hazards, apply risk controls, and carry out a safe rescue. Together, these two units give you a complete set of EWP emergency response skills covering both self-rescue and team rescue situations.
