CPCSIL3001 – Work with products and materials containing crystalline silica

Construction, Work Health & Safety

Gain the skills to work safely with silica-containing materials—planning tasks, applying dust controls, using PPE/RPE correctly, and following safe clean-up procedures.

Course Overview

Crystalline silica is found in common building products like concrete, brick, grout, engineered stone and some composites. When these products are cut, ground, drilled or polished, they can generate respirable crystalline silica (RCS)—a hazardous dust that can cause serious long-term health impacts.

This unit covers the practical skills and knowledge required to work safely with products and materials containing crystalline silica, including planning work tasks, selecting controls, using PPE/RPE correctly, and completing clean-up and maintenance activities in line with workplace and WHS requirements. Licensing, legislative or regulatory requirements may apply depending on your jurisdiction and work context.
