Course Overview

This course gives workers the knowledge and practical skills to handle, distribute, and apply agricultural and veterinary chemicals safely and in line with regulatory requirements. You will learn key responsibilities for storing, handling and supplying scheduled chemicals, including label and SDS awareness, segregation and compatibility, security, incident response, and record-keeping.

This course also covers the preparation and application of chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases, the safe transport and storage of chemicals, and the use of application equipment to apply fumigant in confined spaces. Training focuses on practical compliance behaviours that support safe chemical management in workplaces where agvet chemical distribution is undertaken.

Who This Course Is For

Suitable for workers involved in the storage, handling or supply of agvet chemicals, including rural retail, agribusiness, depot staff, supervisors and team members supporting chemical distribution tasks.

Course Details

Course Information

Minimum age: 18 years.
Prerequisites: No formal prerequisites. Workplace authorisation and regulator requirements may apply depending on the licensing jurisdiction and role scope.
Language, literacy and numeracy: All learners complete an LLN assessment. Support is available where required.
PPE / equipment / IT access: PPE may be required for practical activities where chemicals are handled. A device with internet access is required if online learning is included.
Workplace or site access requirements: Participants must be capable of completing learning and assessment activities relevant to chemical distribution outcomes, with reasonable adjustments available where appropriate.

Assessment may include knowledge questions and scenario-based tasks demonstrating safe handling, storage, incident response and record-keeping aligned to the course outcomes.

On successful completion, participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion by Health Security Education (RTO #40907) for ACDC Licensing support training. A valid USI is required where nationally recognised certification is issued.

Course fees include training, assessment and (where applicable) issuance of certification for participants who successfully meet competency requirements.
Course fees may not include personal PPE, travel, onsite delivery travel costs, replacement certificates, or additional resources unless stated.

Funding and subsidies: Where applicable, funding or subsidies may be available for eligible participants.
Payment terms: Payment is required prior to course commencement unless otherwise arranged.
Refunds and withdrawals: Refunds are managed in accordance with Health Security Education’s Fees and Refunds Policy. Written notice is required to withdraw.

Trainer support is available throughout the course. Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) support and wellbeing support are available on request. Health Security Education provides a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
Participants must follow trainer instructions and use equipment safely. Reasonable adjustment is available where appropriate.
USI: A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required prior to the issuance of nationally recognised certification.
Policies and processes (including Complaints & Appeals) are available via the Student Handbook.

Credit Transfer: Available for equivalent completed units where a valid and current Statement of Attainment is provided.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): May be available for learners who can provide evidence of current competence.
Pathways: This unit may support entry into further training pathways in health, community services, emergency response, workplace safety, or related outcomes, depending on learner goals and packaging rules.
