Course duration:    4 Hour course
Course cost:    $350.00  (GST exempt)
Pre-requisites:    Nil.
Course Outline:     In many working environments people are exposed to a variety of hazardous substances.  These kinds of hazardous substances can have both short term and long term health effects from the smallest exposure, and even cause death. During a Operate Breathing Apparatus course, participants will gain an understanding of how to:

  • check and test breathing apparatus equipment prior to use;
  • operate breathing apparatus in emergency situations; and
  • use breathing apparatus – including shutting down, cleaning and maintenance.

The practical exercises will give participants experience and skills in:

  • conducting pre-use safety tests;
  • correctly donning breathing apparatus;
  • moving in conditions of reduced visibility;
  • the use of breathing apparatus in an emergency;
  • following procedures; and
  • removing breathing apparatus and returning it to operational status.
Assessment:     Assessment for the Operate Breathing Apparatus Course comprises of both written and practical assessment.  Attendees will complete a set of exercises to demonstrate their understanding of the theory and practical components of this competency.
Certification:     Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (RTO #40907).
