Course Outline:   

The DCGI is the “how to” of safety in drilling and completions which complements the knowledge learnt in other inductions. The DCGI is a one day program to explore the way in which workers think, feel and behave in response to risk. The DCGI is to be completed by all employees and contractors working in Drilling and Completions, this includes staff involved in: drilling, well servicing, construction work involved in establishing and maintaining the wellsite, Support services such as camp operations and operator personnel.Through the DCGI, workers will develop their safety skills such as:

  • How to recognise and respond to unsafe behaviours
  • How to prepare and lead safety conversations
  • How to confidently intervene when necessary

The DCGI Facilitators are experienced in creating an engaging, active learning environment that challenges Participants to learn and practice safety observations and conversations.DCGI topics include:

  • Introduction to the CSG Drilling and Completions industry
  • Hazards and Risks: Energy and hazards, types of harm, risk influencers
  • Communication and Risk: Risk thinking and communication tools, lifesavers, stopping the job.
  • Case Studies: How to manage real incidents, how to intervene, how to give and receive feedback on safety behaviours
  • Safety Share: Developing and delivering a personal safety share
Assessment:     Comprised of both written and practical assessment.  Attendees will complete a set of exercises to demonstrate their understanding of the theory and practical components of this competency.
Certification:     Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
